Cynthia Mathieu, Head Teacher

This is my 7th year teaching. I also work seasonally at the Brooklyn Public Library as a literacy facilitator helping families in the neighborhood incorporate reading into their everyday lives. I plan on continuing my education in the near future.
Teaching to me is not a job but a vocation. I understand that children learn in different ways and I always create an environment that allows my students to excel. My goal for each child that enters my classroom is for them to go off into the world feeling confident, successful and happy.
When I'm not teaching I enjoy traveling, visiting museums, exercising and spending time with my little one.

Tekeema Medina Assistant Teacher, B. A. Brooklyn College

Early Childhood / Special Education / Children Studies (Birth - 2nd)
I have been working in the child care field for over 8 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Over the past few years, I have become very aware of the impact teachers and a good foundation can have on the lives of our children. As students enter school, they are turned over to the care of their teacher for nearly 6 hours a day.
I am a big supporter of home - school communication, and believe that parents should be involved in their child's education. With that being said, we'll be constantly discussing what's happening in your child's classroom and ways to support your child's learning at home.
My interaction with the parents is as important as my interaction with your child, parents are welcome to visit and participate in our center at any time.
